RedLeaf Exotics Description:
We are excited to release the very own horticultural grex of our favorite species, veitchii! Nepenthes veitchii is a highly variable species with the Bario/Bareo forms being the most stunning. This grex was created right here in-house with two prime veitchii parents. The male parent is our famous 'Candy Dreams. It produces large, squat pitchers with a red body and a huge striped peristome! The female is squat and striped but lacks body color. We find that two pure Bario forms crossed together can have a lot of variability amongst the progeny. Since both parents are squat, we do expect all of the offspring to be as well. We are certain this will be one of the best veitchii grexes in cultivation to date! Veitchii tends to get its best color in cooler temperatures.
Grex / Plant Information
Physical Traits
Many of this Grex exhibit excellent qualities that are highly desired : squat bodies and exaggerated flair/neck, The (A) grex seems to either produce pronounced traits of both parents early or later changes to better colors /stripes/flairs with age. Some can demonstrate a wide range of stripes and forms prior to maturity.
Color Spectrum: Yellow, Orange , Pink , Red
Growing Conditions
RE-3487 (A) Grex behaves similar to many of the highland N. Veitchii, cooler temps and slower growth rate is more appropriate,
They do well in strong light and seem to enjoy a dry out phase between watering , which is typical of epiphytes
